This piece captures my current psychological state, one that perhaps other high school seniors on the brink of entering adulthood can empathize with. The wooden mannequin represents a person right about to enter adulthood: their identity is not perfectly set yet, only their shape, and they have no set color nor face. The scattered papers of different colors in front of the figure exemplify the different identities, beliefs, opinions, and experiences this figure must sift through and sort out. The mannequin is standing in a blank space, since it has already been sorting these “papers” before, but it still has a long way to go, judging by the endless landscape. The travel suitcase symbolizes the start of a journey.
